April 27 to May 1
Hello Grade 3's and Parents,
This week I will be scheduling Zoom Meetings for small groups. Please check your email later today to see when you will be scheduled for a meeting. If that time does not work for you please let me know on Monday and I will find another time for you.
In the Zoom Meeting Students should;
1. Bring a book that they have been reading to talk us about. (Main events, problems, characters etc)
2. Any questions about any homework.
3. Be ready to talk about the poses you did in science and what made you stable. If you did not do this activity you can join the conversation anyway.
Please contact me with questions any time at faurschoug@blsd.ca.

Hello Gretna Grade 3's and Parents
I hope you and your family are doing well? You will be getting your new learning packages today! Some families are asking for more and I know some families are spending a lot of time on the daily work. The province of Manitoba and Gretna School's goal is to have students doing reading, writing and math everyday. Each day's work should take about 1.5 hours of work. If the work load is too much or is too frustrating please make adjustments that work for your family and your situation. Please contact me if you have any questions or would like to discuss the work that is sent home.

This post is to remind students and parents of some of the online resources that Grade 3's are familiar with using and can be used as extra practice.
DREAMBOX - is a math program where students receive topics and assignments from me. This week they will be reviewing multiplication. This program adjusts to the level students are working at.
EPIC - is a huge online library with fiction and non-fiction books for all interests and levels. I hope to use this resource in the future to assign books and have Zoom Meetings about assigned books.
TYPING CLUB - this is an online program to help students improve their typing skills.
Please let me know if you need your login information for any of the apps mentioned. I glued the login information on the inside of the cover of the folder that came home during the first week of suspended classes.
ZOOM MEETING - Monday April 20, at 2:00 PM. If you can, think about an object you can show in your home that you would not be able to bring to school. Be ready to say 2 interesting facts about it.
SOMETHING FUN - check out pictures of animals moving into spaces that are empty right now.

ZOOM Meeting at 2:00
Hi Grade 3's,
If you want to take part in a ZOOM meeting this afternoon, I am going to send out an invitation.
Please build something out of LEGO that you would like to talk about. Each person will be asked to tell a short story, about 2 minutes of what it is and why it is special.
See you then,
Mr. Faurschou

Learning at Home
Hello Grade 3 Students and Parents,
You will be receiving your next learning package today or tomorrow. This package contains 5 days' worth of work. Please contact me at faurschoug@blsd.ca anytime you have questions about the work.
The school and division are currently trying to put in place a system for returning work and books to the school that is safe. This is proving to be difficult. I do not have information on this process yet. For myself the easiest way to see student work and provide feedback quickly is for you to send in a photo of work your daughter / son has done. I will compile all their work and respond quickly when I receive work samples.
In future work packages I will identify specific pieces of work to send in photos or to send back to school when it is possible.
Putting these new systems for student work in place has been challenging for everyone including parents and students. It is difficult to give information out as it seems to change regularly and what was correct yesterday in longer correct today.
My main goal is have Grade 3 students reading, writing and doing math on a daily basis, so they can continue to develop their skills and be ready to return to school at some time in the future. Thank you for supporting your kids. Please let me know anything that I can do to help and support the continued learning.
Thank you,
Gavin Faurschou
For families that have an internet connection and can access resources online please check this blog regularly for information about the learning happening at home and ways for your student to connect and stay in touch with me, classmates and the school.
