Lost and Found - Oliver Jeffers - Day 4 of your learning package.

Hello Grade 3's,

You have a copy of Lost and Found in your learning package that you can read.  It has less pictures.  Your job after reading the story is to write 2 or more pages at the end of the book and draw pictures.  Read the article in this post below to learn how to draw the penguin.  Have fun and be creative.

Here is a video of me reading, "Lost and Found" by Oliver Jeffers.  He is the author and artist of STUCK and many other great picture books.  I was going to post this before STUCK, oops!

If you want to read how to draw a penguin like in lost and found. Oliver Jeffers wrote an article with step by step instructions.

Below is a video of the book, Lost and Found.

Monday

Hello Grade 3s,

Today you are going to get a new learning package for 2 more weeks of work.  Please look through the schedule and work and think of any questions you might have. I will be contacting you on Tuesday or Wednesday to check in.

Please send in any pictures of your Newspaper Tower Challenge.  Below is a diagram that one student sent in that was a very creative way to build a tower without any tape or glue.

Here is a video that shows how some of the tallest sky scrapers are designed to stand up to strong winds.

I read a journal about our learning with snowflakes that we did this winter and that got me thinking about how we luckily do not have more snow but today it might rain.  I was thinking about rain drops and remembered the Slo Mo Guy.  They have a very cool video about water drops and it is something to think about when it rains later today.

Newspaper Tower Challenge

Hello Grade 3's

If you are trying the newspaper challenge please try to make a version of the tower using only TWO pieces of news paper and 10 centimetres of tape.  I tried building a tower without tape and it was really hard.

What is important for the Newspaper Tower Challenge?
1. Try once.  THINK and try again and make it better.
2. HAVE FUN!

If you are feeling like building more and challenging your building and thinking skill Google - Newspaper Tower Challenge for more ideas of what can be built with newspaper.

If you are looking for something fun for a rainy afternoon check out the Garfield Comic website.
